Vizslas (Smooth Vizsla, AKC Vizsla, HungarianVizsla,) and the Hungarian Wire-Haired Vizsla (Wirehaired Vizsla, Wire Vizsla) are NOT the same breed. Puppies produced by such breedings are mix breed dogs, not purebreds, and can not be registered.

A reputable breeder breeds to the Hungarian Wire-Haired Vizsla standard, including temperament, and working ability.
A reputable breeder usually belongs to a breed club and thereby abides by their code of ethics.
A reputable breeder only breeds from breeding stock that have been tested and found clear of known genetic health problems. Preferably there will be several generations of tested dogs within the breeding pedigree.

RED FLAGS: BUYER BEWARE 
THESE ARE COMMON WARNING SIGNS THAT A BREEDER MAY BE LESS THAN REPUTABLE.
Breeder claims there are no genetic health issues in Hungarian Wire-haired Vizslas (Wirehaired Vizsla): Every breed has atleast one or more genetic health issue to worry about, and the Wire-haired Vizsla is no exception. Breeders who deny this are usually doing so to avoid genetic health testing/certifying their own breeding stock.
Breeders who have passing genetic health testing on only some of their current breeding stock.
Breeder will not allow you to come to their home to pick up a puppy and meet their adults.
Breeder has a USDA license.
Breeder sells over the internet without first carefully screening prospective buyers and matching the puppy to the right home.
Breeder does not sell pet dogs with a spay/neuter contract and/or limited registration.
Breeder does not participate in conformation, field, performance, and/or companion hunting or any combination of these.
